Where This are is between the University of Waterloo lands and Highway 86 (Conestoga Parkway). This area has a number of industrial areas, mostly astride #86 and the railway tracks. These neighbourhoods have close access to downtown and U of W, as well as the Laurel Creel Conservation Area to the west.Lakeshore Village and Lakeshore North are communities just east of the Laurel Creek parklands. Glenridge and Lincoln Heights are east of downtown and are surrounded by creekside parklands. These communities also have ready access to Uptown Waterloo and the Conestoga Parkway. Schools

This part of Waterloo has 3 performance theatres, 1 cinema screens, a museum, and two public galleries, For athletes, there are lots of parks, and the Hillside Community Trail in Hillside Park, as well as the Laurel Creek Conservation Area and Reservoir, and Breithaupt Park to the south. Nearby Centennial/Waterloo Park is the city's recreational and festival centre. There is the Chicopee Ski Hill nearby on the city's SE corner
